Project Goal

Years of neglect had left the site vulnerable to bot traffic, to the point where analytics data had become almost meaningless – it was no longer possible to distinguish real visitors from automated noise. On top of that, the site was in poor shape both technically and visually. It had already passed through several agencies and multiple developers, and the cumulative result was an average search ranking stuck around position 40. That’s 5th page in search results. Too deep.

We agreed to approach the rebuild in phases. Phase one focused on designing a new interface, coding it from scratch, and integrating it alongside the legacy codebase – which had to be preserved (for now), repaired, and stabilized until it could be fully retired. Beyond the redesign and its implementation, we introduced a properly configured consent management setup via Google Tag Manager, and used Google Search Console to clean up problematic pages, broken links, and faulty redirects. We also replaced the old, malfunctioning yacht search tool with a new one built for the job, added a full itinerary feature, and completely rebuilt the site’s homepage, yacht listing page, yacht details page, and articles section. Phase one took roughly four months from start to finish.

What We Delivered

  • Search visibility climbed fast. With the new design, proper code structure live, the site moved from an average ranking of position 40 to position 17 after just three months – and that average continues to trend toward page one. People searching for luxury charters can finally find the site. Conversion rate increased from 0.3% to 1% after 3 months, and continues to grow. A big number of client’s web pages are now ranking on the first page in search result.
  • The site is genuinely fast. Despite the heavy load of high-resolution imagery, we put everything we know about performance to work so the site loads quickly and reads clearly – not just for human visitors, but for AI crawlers as well.
  • Visibility in AI-driven search continues to grow. The site shows steady, sustained growth in impressions across AI-powered searches.
  • The phone started ringing. For the first time, the client began receiving direct phone inquiries for charters from their website – a clear sign that the new site builds trust and lends credibility to the business, giving visitors the confidence to call directly rather than hesitate.
  • A distinct, memorable identity. The site looks and feels different from other yacht charter websites, making it easy for visitors to remember and return to.
  • A smarter way to browse offers. We also built a custom searchable pricing table that lets visitors quickly filter yachts by price – a feature we haven’t seen implemented in a similar way by any competitor.
  • Content management made effortless. A suite of custom modules now allows the client to manage content without sinking excessive time into it.
  • Update anxiety is gone. The client no longer hesitates to hit “update” in WordPress. Updates no longer break the site – if anything, each one leaves it running better than before.
  • Everything is custom-built. We eliminated unstable third-party plugins, retaining only the essential tools that secure and optimize website’s performance. Minimizing external dependencies has resulted in a faster, more stable user experience.

The site has gone from a liability to a business asset.

A quality website doesn’t just look good – it loads fast, ranks well, and stays out of your way. When all of that comes together, you stop worrying about your tech and start focusing on what actually grows your business. This project demonstrates that even a heavily compromised site can be turned into a performing platform with the right strategy and execution.

5 / 5

After several bad experiences with other contractors who left us with a non-functional website full of errors, we approached our collaboration with Zeljko from studio Simple with a degree of caution. However, from the very first communication, we saw that Zeljko's approach to the project was completely different from our previous collaborations with others. What impressed us the most was Zeljko's ability not only to visually transform our site into a modern and functional design but also to completely fix the technical issues from the past. As a full-stack designer, he handled the entire job independently - from the visual identity and UI, through programming, to seamless integration into WordPress.

We particularly want to praise the development of custom modules tailored to our needs, which has made managing content much easier for us. Today, we finally have a website that runs stably and quickly, and we can edit content without fear that something might "break". However, what won us over was the communication.

Zeljko didn't just "build us a website", he restored our trust in digital collaborators.

And most importantly of all, Zeljko's goal wasn't just to "complete the job and get paid" and then withdraw as soon as it was delivered. Throughout the entire process, he gave concrete suggestions, warned us in advance about things that could cause problems later, and invested his time to make the website as good as possible. He leaves nothing to chance: he checks and tests everything, and explains decisions clearly and sensibly. Of all the people we have collaborated with so far, Zeljko impressed us the most with his approach - thorough, organized, transparent, and always focused on the solution. This was our best collaboration to date, which is why we are sure we will work with him on future projects as well. If you want a partner you can fully trust and who will do the job properly, without improvisation, we sincerely recommend Zeljko and studio Simple.
